Getting started in the beat making buisness

So your interested in the beat making business?

There are a few things that you must first know before you get started and yes they do require you to have some sort of funds coming in for the business to be successful.

1. First off you'll need some sort of software to make the beats with, i use fl studio as that is my preferred choice

2. you will need some knowledge in marketing in some way, most people walk into this business thinking that people will just find you and you'll be rich. ERRRR Wrong! you need to market yourself. Using programs such as Tweet Adder for twitter and O Community Suit for Facebook will greatly help you reach your targeted audiences in a massive amount while keeping the ads automated (meaning you set it and forget it)

3. You are going to want a PERSONAL WEBSITE. Most people join communities of other producers, and that's were they go wrong. Think of it this way in the eyes of the buyer. You go to sound click and you are looking for beats. You find something that you like and an attractive ad takes you to another producers music, you start to wonder around from producer to producer hoping you'll find something good while at the same time not listening to all the beats from each producer. When you have a personal website its ALL EYES ON YOU! Meaning no distractions, and the buyer takes more time to listen to your beats list fully. This increases sales greatly! With a personal website you can also sell more than just beats, lets say Services for mastering songs. Its as simple as creating a Paypal button and posting the code on your website. People will be able to pay for the mastering services and you can tell them through your website to send there songs to such and such email. This increases your trade skills allowing you to become a jack of all trades.

4. Numbers do matter but to an extent, if your adding random people who have no interest in what you do, then your most likely throwing a line of bullshit there that they wont even take 2 seconds to consider checking out. Find an audience of targeted people, Such as "Rappers" or "RNB Singers" this will make sure that the content that you are posting is directed at someone who actually cares to know what you do because you will be benefiting them in some way shape or form.

5. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) this is something that matters the most to your business, thus it is the hardest to achieve. You need to make sure that the content on your website matches what people search for when they want to buy beats. Putting words such as "Buy Beats Online" within your website will help you climb up the SEO ladder to getting found through Google. If you do your SEO correctly you will end up being on the first page of Google and possibly the first of all the websites that show up, these are like ads in a way expect you do not have to pay for them at all because you did the proper SEO to your site, and now your website will be generating traffic like no other.

6. Back links are important to your website as well as SEO, it allows users to find your website through other sites without you having to throw adverts there way, while it also helps to bring your Page Rank up. Page rank tells Google "HEY THIS SITE IS IMPORTANT WE SHOULD MAKE SURE THIS SITE SHOWS FIRST ABOVE ALL THE REST" the more back links you have the better, but do not clutter your back links with garbage places like forums that have absolutely no page rank themselves, this is detected by Google and will penalize your website. If you do anything the "Black Hat" way which is illegal to Google your site could even be banned from Google and all other search engines spelling complete demise for you and your business and it will be the end of the road for you.
